Do blogs work?

October 2009 a client was asking about a Forum on their website. The forum physically works fine, but not many people are currently using the forum to exchange views. This is a shame as a forum can offer great benefits over writing an email and sending it to 10 people for comments. Part of the issue is that the leaders are not using the forum, so why should anyone else?

Which lead me on to thinking about Blogs. Everyone suggests that a blog can be good for business. But if you yourself do not have a blog well why not if it is such a good idea?

A few years ago I started running at first 2-miles and it nearly killed me. Today I can run 8-miles and hold a conversation all the way round.

Practice, training, attitudes, are the things which hold us back. Sometimes we need to break the mold and do something new, so here is the Website-Doctor.com Blog designed to test and demonstrate best practice. Not just telling people what they should do but doing it for Website-Doctor.com as well.

Result Of Do Blogs Work?

Not as well as say posting content on your website. The downside of blogs is that they do not have Titles and Descriptions formatted in a Google friendly fashion. Google likes to match search queries to the titles on website pages.

Conclusion - supplying your content as text to your website developer probably makes more sense than a blog and then use your Twitter Feed and Facebook for linking your content, or of course post a comment below!
